I am wondering if these types of necks are as strong as the file in type I have never shot a bow with this type of bow nock and contemplating buying one

Those are called pin nocks and they are plenty good enough for most hunting weight bows. The overlays make it even stronger.

The material removed beyond the nock area doesn't add strength because its fibers have been severed back to and to the depth of the filed in nock.
The depth (on the sides and top) of the filed groove is the important consideration, not whether there is material beyond the groove.If it's filed too deep, of course, it can become a problem.
