Drew Nevada 171-173 + 161-163 For Elk - Need Help
« on: June 27, 2015, 06:57:00 PM »
Looking for suggestions on where to concentrate for elk in NV units 161-163 and/or 171-173.  I am experienced in wilderness hunting so that's not a problem.  I live out of state so any help would be tremendously appreciated.

And yes, this is the non-resident archery hunt.

In 162 start at butler basin on the north end and go south through Table Mountain.

elk in 17 are a fairly new deal so I wouldn't waste my time, its big country and you could spend the entire season looking and not find a thing.

There is a site on NDOW that list guzzlers.  Look that over.  Also map search for water.  Met a guy with an antelope tag and his scouting produced much water on one side of his area, and zip on the other.  That has been the story of our last 4 years.
I do not hunt those areas, but that is how I hunt the places I go to.   Water and cover.
Cast a long shadow-you may provide shade to someone who needs it.  Semper Fi
