Cedar arrows.....

Just received my Bear green stripe takedown. Am interested in having a dozen arrows made for it. Looking for something custom that kind of matches the bow.... Who to go to? Thanks

Do yourself a favor and look back into all the threads on wood arrows, much better and stronger arrows out there like Dougfir and Stka spruce for the same price. IMHO

Yes Sir I will. I'm undecided as I shot XX75s for years and shot carbons for three or four..... Choices lol

I only shoot woodies and i shoot Port orford cedar that i build. Their are other woods that are more durable then cedar out there and make great arrows. I love the smell of broken cedar arrows, guess thats why i shoot them lol!  Check some of the arrow threads for custom arrow makers or google it. Give them a call and they will hook you up with some great arrows.

Lots of guys right here on Trad Gang can make some really beautiful arrows for you. I still prefer cedar but readily admit that other woods make arrows that are potentially tougher. They just don't smell as good as cedar when you break them. Many threads here are available for making your own arrows, also.

Cedar is still my preference as well.  Several builders on this site can make you a nice set of arrows.

If you can obtain high quality Cedar shafting it is a fine way to go. I.M.O. based on what I have been able to obtain however, good Cedar is hard to come by. The few dozen Hildebrand Sitka Spruce and many dozens of Surewood Shafts Douglas Fir that I have used have all been excellent and I mean every single shaft.

Paul Jalon does do a nice job on arrows;  Snag at Wilderness Custom  Arrows is no slouch on arrows either.  I have used them both satisfactorily, depends  on what you want.

If you want to shoot heavier arrows, I think I would go with  Douglas Fir.  From my experience, Sitka Spruce was easier to transition to shoot because the trajectory was  closer to my carbons (lighter arrow I think).  Not a big deal either way, shoot it enough and you will get  used to the trajectory.
