Bear Greenies
« on: July 13, 2015, 09:13:00 AM »
I have been seeing a bunch of ground hogs at our archery range lately so I decided to put a few broad heads in the quiver just incase I get a shot during some of my practice sessions.  Didn't want to dull or worse less loose any of my big game heads so I dug out a few old Bear Greenies I have in the box.  Did a quick sharpening and lined them up.  When I hit the 3D target to test them out I was amazed at how well they flew.  Not sure why I never thought to use them before but I plan on having them in the quiver of one of my hunting bows this fall.  Killed my first archery deer back in 1967 with a Browning Nomad and greenie.

Fly well and sharpen easily.  Just not as strong as some of the new heads on the market. Good for whitetails and black bears, but you won't bag many bricks with them.    ;)

With all due respect, I've seen deer shot with four blade greenies that looked like they had been shot by a rifle.  They still can get it done.  For sure there are stronger ones now on the market but we are hunting deer nor mastodons.

Go hunt and have fun, they will do their part.

Can't beat 'em as far as I'm concerned. Always looking for some more at shoots. Taken a lot of deer with them. They can and will do the job.

That's one thing about those old greenies...they fly well out of anything. Didn't matter what bow I used, broadhead flight was excellent. Last year my brother used one out of a crossbow to take a deer. He told me it flew perfectly
