I need an opinion

Has anyone every used a Tru Angle R-3 Broadhead Sharpener Hone on Wensel Woodsmens.   I have found one of these and want an opinion before I go and buy one.

I`ve never used them on Woodsmens but I`ve used them on many two blade heads for years now and love them. Hav`nt found any two blade it wont sharpen so I see no reason it won`t sharpen a Woodsman.

get yourself a small pane of tempered glass about 5 by 10, some various grits of wet dry automotive sandpaper 800 - 2500 and some temporary adhesize spray. Pull the woodsmans from back to front laying them perfectly flat  start with coarser end with the finest and have the most scary sharp broadheads in your neck of the woods.

I have all the Tru-Angle hones made and love them. They work greeat on everything from Snuffers to replaceable blades, so I see no reason they wouldn't work well on Woodsmans.

With Snuffers I use the file and strop kit.

For my Magnus 2 blades I use the the stones then finish with the strop.

For the last several months I've used a G5 Sport Sharpener and finish with the Tru-Angle strop.  Takes less time and get just as hair shaving sharp an edge...

The sharpener shown is the wrong angle for a WW.  It should be flat.

That's what I was thinking Mike.  There is a similar type set up that uses files instead of the stones, and with the files I would imagine you could change the angle on Woodsmans and then finish them up on the stone sharpner 702 is looking at.  I'm not sure if that would work though.  I do mine flat, and after the initial work of getting the edge started they work beautifully.

The sharpener pictured at the top is designed to give you a sharper angle on the edge. It actually re-grinds the edge if you will. I just prefer to do them on a flat surface instead. Once you go through changing the angle you will need to use that tool every time. If you sharpen them on a flat surface you can always use someone elses stone or file to get the job done.

Just my two cents...

14-16" Mill Bastered file, a sharpening stone & leather strap is all you need for any 3-blade in my book that is..
