Looking for a string???
« on: August 03, 2015, 10:49:00 AM »
Hey all, my father who is semi-disabled hasn't been able to shoot for quite some time.  He recently picked up a 17lb 62in Hoyt recurve at the ETAR and was looking to try and shoot however, we haven't been able to find a string to fit it.  This particular bow has very narrow, thin limb tips and all the strings we've tried so far have had way to big of loops.  Anyone have a good suggestion on where to pick up a string that will fit this bow?

Thanks
AJ

Talk to Allen at  http://www.tenringstrings.com/.   He's a sponsor here and will give you top notch service.  You could probably buy a "long bow" string with smaller loops as well.

Lots of good places to get a string here on Trad Gang as has been mentioned.

If you want a B55 string, our in stock Premium B55's have special universal loops that will open to fit the largest recurve if need be, but cinch down tight on even the smallest longbow limb tip.

Endless or Flemish?  Either way it shouldn't be a problem.  Give the string maker the loop size you want and they should be able to make it to fit.

I'm guessing this is an older bow?  If so, 10 strands of B-55 will be fine.

Lots of good string makers on this site.  However, if your only problem with your existing string(s) is loops that are too large, just serve them to the size you want.

SBD (Silent But Deadly) strings have been the best I found.
