Any good trad shops near Sacramento, CA?
« on: August 07, 2015, 12:19:00 AM »
I live in Illinois, and have an old college roommate visiting from California.  His 12 year old daughter has been interested in starting in trad archery for a while, and yesterday I had a chance to let her shoot for a while during their stay.

I have a 20# laminated longbow that I used in teaching my kids, and we shot judo points at tennis balls in my country back yard.  She had a great time, and did quite well for someone that had only held a bow twice previously.  She has been saving for a bow, and is completely hooked after two short shooting sessions here.

The good trad shops we had nearby are long closed as the sport headed to "mechanical" equipment, but the is a Bass Pro we may check if there is time before they leave.  I understand they have a very limited amount of trad gear, and perhaps a beginner's bow or two.  Had hoped to help her pick enough to get started and show her how to set it up safely and properly.  But... time is running out.

I wondered if, on the outside chance, there was anyone here who might know of a knowledgeable trad shop in their home area- Sacramento/Folsom, CA???

I know the odds are long, but figured it was worth asking.  I am hoping to get here started with an inexpensive ~25# recurve and the necessities to shoot it.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

Daryl

There is an archery shop in Rocklin California that is close to your friend but the very best bet is to simply shop online using any of the great resources we have listed here in the sponsors area.  Best of luck to you and your buddy.

Reno has house of Arrows.  That character knows trad gear and has Pronghorn, Maddog and others on the rack.  He can help.  2.5 hour drive
