Broadheads flying to the right...lh shooter!
« on: August 16, 2015, 08:33:00 PM »
Hey guys....season is fast approaching and I'm a little behind. I am shooting the same setup as last year...40# Montana Longbow...29" easton 1816's...with 125 grain magnus stinger.

This setup flew like lasers last season...but this year I put broadheads on and they are flying 2-3" to the right (left handed shooter). Field tips fly great...and so do the broadheads...no fishtail or wobble...just shoot to the right.

Only thing that is different is the string material. Not wanting to move to much around this close to season I would like to hear opinions first. Is it just a brace height issue maybe?

Different string material and string count can make a difference.  Also you may want to check your brace height with a new string.  May have stretched a bit.

Could be you're plucking the string to the left away from your face on release or your arrows are spining stiff due to changes in your bow setup- string/brace height.  First make sure you're pulling through straight back/proper form on release.  If that's not the problem, try raising your brace height a little bit at a time and see if it solves your problem.  You can also try lowering your nock point just a smidgen too and see if it corrects your windage.

I've got some 150 stingers here at the house if you want to try them.

If I get a less than perfect release, the arrows go right ( lefty shooter).

What material are you using for your side plate?  If it is something soft, velcro-etc, it could be worn out causing your arrow to shoot stiff.

Good feedback above also. There could be several factors causing it.

If your brace height is low, there could be a bit of unwanted contact towards the rear of the arrow. If not that, it could be your own visual. If that is the case keep shooting the broadheads and they will move over as you adjust to them.  When I use wide two blades flat, I tend to shoot them to the right with one left hand bow, my Grooves recurve.  The only reason I put them flat with that set up is that the arrows are just a bit short to pull the blade to my finger.
