Magnus Stinger 4 blade converted to 2 blade?
« on: August 20, 2015, 01:09:00 PM »
I have a mixture of two blade and four blade 125 grain Stingers. Has anyone removed the bleeder blades to shoot the bh's as a two blade?

Will the converted two blade bh's shoot the same as the two blade bh's of the same weight?

They are a few grains lighter when you removed the bleeders  But not enough to make a difference IMO

I did and the little keeper rattled so I put a glob of string wax between the main blade and it and it quieted right down. The wax I was using was that black string wax, it's a little thicker and harder than the white stuff though. Just need something in there to take up that space.

I have read where Magnus says no. I do know this, on my 150gr. stingers, the ferrule is larger on the two blades than the four blades. Would assume this would make up for the loss, of weight, with the absence of the bleed blade.

The question is can you shoot the difference?  My broad-heads shoot the same as my field points to me.  They're 5 grains heavier and a little different in profile  ;) .  Of course I'm among company that probably shoots better than I do.  Try it out.  If something goes ugly, Magnus has a lifetime warranty.

I would call Magnus and ask the guy who makes them.  He is very helpful and could give you pros and cons.

I do this and just it works fine, i just put a piece of business card stock where the bleeder was  trim it flush and dab some thin super glue to hold it in place. works great you lose about 3 grains. I killed my bear in Canada with one and plan of using them on my elk hunt.
The reason I did it was I use a slim jim quiver which is made for a two blade head. I cant understand why Magnus would say not to do it.
