light weight, 2nd guessing myself now.

This will be my first official season hunting with a light weight bow, a Kimsha 50's recurve pulling 44@28 and I think I'm pulling 27".

the arrow is a 29" heritage 90,250gr points I think 540 total weight and the broadheads are LW 1 1/2" Abowyer Whitetails, keep in mind the bow isn't really fast enough to make them hiss (per their reputation) and I'm not worried about deer jumping the string or arrow coming in.

my past is bows pulling 50 to 57#shooting 12-15gpi and my prefered range was 25yds max.

I wanted a 2 blade that cuts a BIG hole and thought the 250gr single bevel 1 1/2 wide abowyer would compliment the light pulling bow and at least poke out the other side of a full size deer, I also have both centaurs along with treeshark and interceptors but thought the bow was too light for them.  

so now with 5 days to go the little guy sitting on my other shoulder that looks like me is saying a narrow cut 3 blade OR smaller 2-blade would be better,, keep in mind the Abowyer Whitetail has that rounded tanto type point not a knife type point by any means.

what do you guys think, just hit em behind the shoulder and see what happens or don't chance it and go with what?

You'll be fine!  Thousands upon thousands of dead deer have fallen to 45# or less bows with a myriad of different broadheads.  You just double lung 'em and post the pics for us to enjoy!

I have been shooting around #45 for the past few years and have been using a 150 grain Magnus 2 blade with a 150 grain brass insert.  Performance has been great.  You won't have any problem if you hit the right location.

You will be fine. I killed two deer last year with a 40lb, and one antelope. Shooting a 35/55 GT with 250gr upfront. Had complete pass throughs on all animals

Simply spend some time thinking about how many animals have been killed with lesser equipment...my guess is you have that bow tuned for impeccable flight...and remember, which I am sure you already know, it is not much what you hit em with as where you hit em

Now is not the time to second guess yourself and equipment. I'm not as knowledgeable as some, or, most on this site, but I could almost guarantee your setup is more than efficient enough. I'm heading out in the morning with my Blacktail Columbian longbow fitted with a Heritage 90 and tipped with a VERY sharp Bear greenie. Total weight 463 grs. for 10+ gpp. I feel confident with that and now it's up to me to put that arrow in the right spot when the time comes. Same with you. Good luck.

For whitetail, I would say you are most likely fine. Just make sure your broadheads are scary sharp, and put the arrow where it needs to go!

Put your worry about your setup to rest.

Your equipment will do their job just fine....
...Only thing to worry about is you doing your job bud.

I've taken a couple deer with a 45# bow with 475 total grain arrows using a VPA 3 blade.
I was drawing 28" then.

The 3 blade actually does more cutting than the 1.5" head you're using.

So I had a lighter arrow, a head that had more resistance and only 1 inch more draw.

I had no problems with penetration at shots under 18yds on deer.

okay thanks everyone I was wondering if someone would recommend something but I'm going to listen to everyone and just leave it alone.  

I've been doing this for so many years you would think I'd have enough knowledge to laugh at the worrys but man it kind of shows up and messes with you.

I am sure you will be fine. My only modification would be a narrower broadhead. The wider head creates a lot more drag on the arrow. You might not get an exit but you will have a huge entry.

You will be just fine! I shoot a 44# bow with a 365 grain arrow and use 100 grain Muzzy trocar (sharpened) 3blades and standard inserts.

when I hunt with my target bow it's 41# and I use a 350 grain arrow with the same broadheads.

With deer it really only matters whether you make a good shot or not, even with very light bow weight and arrow weight.

I would put anything on it that super heavy arrows with huge rainbow trajectory have accounted for more wounded animals then well placed light arrows from light bows

This past June I shot right through a bear in Quebec with a 45# bow and an ACE 2 blade. He was dead in under 10 seconds........you do your part, your tackle will do the rest. Have fun!!!!!

I just bought a brand new widow and it's only pulling 42 @ my 29 inches in I don't feel under bowed at all not one bit rock on with that  44 pound bow

Second guessing is often a formula and/or catalyst which may be the significant reason for falling short.

Maintained focus, confidence, tuned and sharp heads, proper shot execution with the arrow finding its mark should easily yield the dividend intended.

Practice consistently with commitment, confidence and don't look back.

I bet you still get a pass through. 2 seasons ago I shot a big doe with a 44lb Kodiak Magnum. The arrow was a goldtip 3555 with 225 upfront and weigh about the same as yours do.  The broadhead was a Zwickey Delta.The arrow didn't pass through completely, but it did break the offside leg. People kill deer with alot less. Type in 40-45 in the search there is a thread that is page upon page of light weight bow kills. Have no worries.

just for the heck of it I sharpened up some Zwickey 1's which are a lot more pointier than the whitetails but at the same time its still a slight wedge point not as rounded as the abowyer  but I will be shooting both today and go from there on how they hit for me with the kimsha.

I hunt a few states and Rhode Island is starting Tuesday, I have two stands hung there and won the hunt lottery to access a posted state area so I'm looking forward to a good season.

Hopefully I will have some pics but this heat here is nutz,,,,, I hear its going to be in the 80's and I seriously doubt the deer will move at all but we'll see.
