Anyone chasing em? Any hints or advice would be appreciated! I see a lot deer hunting so I got a tag this year in case I see one deer or squirrel hunting but wouldn't mind targeting them specifically either

They open Oct 1 here. I am looking forward to stalking them again this fall. Hens are better table fare, but I wouldn't mind another longbeard, as well.

Oct 3rd here! I have seen quite a few gobblers on camera, so I will be after them. I won't do anything special though in the fall. I will just deer hunt, and if they come through, one will get shot at!

I'm hunting them in KS this yr. Didn't draw for deer, so I'm gonna give them a whirl. Haven't specifically targeted them in the fall before.

Fall turkeys....It's definitely a topic that isn't cover well. I think the best way is to find the roost and wait for them to fly down. At least in the eastern states.
There are some good books on turkey hunting you could try

Terrible picture, but I will be looking for this guy in a couple of weeks. Saw him this morning at one of my turkey hunting spots. Two pretty good beards.

Your coming all the way up here for one bird? That's all we can shoot in the fall now the changed things up. Sure hope you have other things in mind it shouldn't take you to long if your on a decent spot. There easy to pattern in the fall just like clock work, setup in the right spot and you should get your shot.

I get a fall tag for the Upper Peninsula and that way I'm covered if birds show up.  Last year I bagged a nice Tom while sitting on the edge of a food plot in a popup blind.  I've also seen them in the oaks on stand. For me it's a tag of bonus opportunity more than it is a hunt for birds.

Yep I don't target them specifically, but f I was going to I would try to roost them and hunt fly down and just before fly up. I've had good luck waiting on them to return to their roosts. The birds are easy to pattern in the fall where I hunt. They use the same trails daily.

Similar to Bisch...I deer hunt and always have a fall turkey tag in my pocket just in case. I've seen some on the property that I'll be hunting so I'm stoked to possibly get a shot at one again. Been years since I released an arrow at one because the population in NY is so low for the past few years.

Lol! No, Tracy. I'm just gonna be the "help" around camp this year. Both my buddies drew.
"Permit Limit: Each hunter may obtain no more than one turkey permit. Residents and nonresidents who purchase a turkey permit may also purchase up to three addi- tional turkey game tags valid in Unit 2 only. Fall turkey permits and game tags are valid for both male and female turkeys. Dogs may be used in fall season.
Bag Limit: One turkey, either sex, per permit or game tag"
I'm hunting in unit 2.

Yup,  I'm gonna hunt deer and watch for turkeys.  My problem is that I tend to hunt the swamp and these turkeys tend to prefer the uplands.  I need to move around a bit this year I guess.
