Bears 2, Me 0
« on: September 21, 2015, 11:40:00 AM »
I got out for the bear season opener over the weekend, but only saw a whitetail doe.

I sat in a stand of beech and cherry all day both days, with beechnuts covering the ground, and wild cherries falling like rain all around me.

Sunday morning there was a fresh bear turd within 10 yards of the fallen hemlock I was hiding in.

At least one bear has been feeding in this stand of mast trees on and off for a couple weeks, and I had high hopes of running into him. It figures that he'd show up at night.

It's driving me crazy but I can't hunt for the next couple days, then I've got three more days to hunt. Hopefully blackie and I will both be there at the same time at some point later this week. Either way, It's great to be in the woods during an open season again.

Thank you!

I didn't think I'd be able to get back out for a few more days, but I got some things caught up in record time today. Imagine that.  :bigsmyl:

I'm headed back out tomorrow. I'll have tomorrow afternoon, and all of the following two days to hunt. Wish I had longer, but I'll take it.

I hope so. That statement has me pumped up more now than I was already. :bigsmyl:  Thanks.

Sam, Zepnut, thank you too.

Hopefully when I get back I'll have more to talk about than another fresh bear turd, lol.
