Love My New Mamba...
« on: October 13, 2007, 04:00:00 PM »
My new LH 58" 55#@28" Mamba arrived. It is in excellent shape, as was promised by the seller. Far and away the best auction I've ever won.

Clearly it's of recent manufacture, so I set it up with one of LBR's excellent FF strings I had on hand. I used a tie in nock point and Quvit silencers.  It tuned up nicely with a brace height of 8" and a nock point of +3/8.  I set it up with a T-300 rest.

I've always heard that Mambas are high performance bows, and I can now attest to that fact.  Using a 525 grain 2413, mine chronographs
195FPS.  With a 510 grain CX4560, it averaged 198FPS and touched 200FPS twice in the 5 shot string!

To go with the speed, it's accurate, smooth, and amazingly quiet. It's proving to be the most accurate bow I have, or perhaps the bow I shoot most accurately. Whatever, it really fits me and my style, and has raised my game several steps.

I"m highly impressed with the Mamba.  For sure, I have a new primary, do everything bow.  Best  $124.26 I ever spent!...  :goldtooth:

Why can't I ever get a deal like that!!! All the bows I bid on go to almost new market value. Guess it pays to be a lefty. Congrats on the new bow.

Congratulations on a fine bow! I've had a Mamba and really enjoyed it. It just seemed like it was built for the woods.

I've had mine going on 25 yr. Done a lot of shooting and hunting with her over those years. It is a great bow. Never had the opportunity to use a chronograph, but I didn't need to. Shot well and felt good for me. If I hadn't recently sratched a long time itch for a longbow, she'd still be my steady date.

By the way, those speeds are pretty impresive. Better than I would have guessed. Do you have a longer draw length?

About average, Steve.  28"-28.5"...

I was pretty darn tickled that the other bidders gave up so soon, and amazed I got it for the cost of a decent back quiver. I honestly figured it would go $200-$300.

Here's the kicker. After I got it, my wife told me she was going to buy me a new one for my birthday on Nov 12th.

I circled a few things in the 3R catalog and advised they would make fine gifts too...   :D

Just can't convey how much I like this bow.  Even though it's a production bow, it's as if a bowyer measured my hand and shaped the riser & grip for me.  None of my other bows fit or shoot as well as this Mamba.
