Bowhunters Education Course
« on: September 27, 2015, 08:11:00 PM »
My brother and I are applying for a caribou draw hunt in Alaska next month. I read that I will need a bow hunters ed course to bow hunt in Alaska after June or July of next year.
Has anyone taken the course here in tx? I took my hunters ed about 25 yrs ago but this doesn't seem to apply.

Randy, I have taken the course. I had to go to Dallas to take it because I found out last minute before an out of country hunt that I had to have it. The course is a lot like the regular hunter ed course, but geared towards bowhunting. I'll see if I can find any course infor for you.

Here is some info from TPWD that might help you out.     http://tpwd.texas.gov/education/hunter-education/bowhunter-education

I just looked on that page, and it looks like there are no Bowhunter Ed classes on the schedule right now!

Thx Bisch! Well, Maybe this spring.  I really didn't want to be taking a course during hunting season anyways! Lol

Some states offer an on-line class, it still requires a day of field exercises, with a test.
Thanks,
Tim

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!
