Hey guys I am in the process of building a new arrow for my Centaur Dark matter. 62" 57@30 my my draw is 31" so I'm at 60#. I want to build a tough no nonsense arrow, so my thought process was to glue in a 4" wood dowel and taper the shaft to accept my 220g glue on heads, which is the heaviest wood dowel material I can get and what arrow do you recommend for my set up? Sounds to me like he is wanting to use the dowel like an internal footing to make the arrow tougher.

If heavy is what you want try finding a Rockler Wood Workers store near you. They carry an assortment of hardwood dowels.
Or try Forrester Hardwood arrow shafts. He has some really exotic stuff.
I read somewhere (here maybe) of a guy putting Purple Heart dowels in his arrow shafts for hunting big game in Africa. Arrows came in well over 1000grains.
