Arrow Spine
« on: October 08, 2015, 10:50:00 PM »
I just received my new string today and rushed out to find the knocking position I liked best with my un-fletched arrow. Well I found my knock point, but now my arrow is drastically underspined... Arrow knock is way left. So I guess I need to add some serious weight up front.

Do y'all just go up in 25 gram increments till one works or is there a general rule?

Also in my research I came across someone talking about the fact that a properly spines arrow will not receive marks on the arrow rest or feathers as it should bend around the riser... Is this true? Because I definitely have some wear in those areas.

If your arrow is underspined (weak), adding tip weight will only make it weaker!

If it is underspined, you will need to go to a lighter tip weight, or make the shaft shorter.

If your right handed and the arrow (I assume your testing with bare shafts) is flying nock left this is a weak or underspined arrow.  Cut it shorter or try again with a stiffer shaft..

Right handed shooter---

Nock left= weak (cut shaft shorter or lighter point or increase brace height of the bow)

Nock right=stiff (add weight up front or longer shaft)

A little more info would help like LB or recurve, weight at 28", what your DL is, and what arrows are you shooting.

or add weight to the back of your arrows.
flying knock left or in the target knock left?
