CT Tradgangers - Any success yet?
« on: October 13, 2015, 05:40:00 PM »
The CT season is well under way but at the same time has a long way to go.  We get to hunt through January in some districts. I have seen deer, passed on one and I'm curious to know how the rest of you are doing so far.

Tell your story!

Passed on some does with fawns.
Missed a doe 3x w/longbow. Longbow is being punished and I've been taking the recurve out. No shots with that yet. Have only seen two spikes so far, no real antlers yet.

I know Bill Langer killed a big doe a couple weeks ago in CT. The past week he's been hunting pigs with us.

Sure,  photo is on my cell phone (not to good)
but the story is..  I hunt alot of rockwall cut thru's..  deer will go 100 yrds down and go thru where there are no rocks.  If you go in the winter with snow tracks will come from everywhere and go thru there.  like a wagon wheel spokes and the hub of the wheel is the rockwall (with out the rocks at that point)  any way I was at such a spot and also found tons of acorns and new deer sign (turds). Southwest wind was steady and after about an hour saw movement and down a logging trail comes a Bobcat

very cool animal, first i have seen while hunting 40 yrs in CT.   then later few minute before sunset see two deer coming from my right feeding on the acorns.  they came in to 10 yrds but were facing me and i needed broadside. Well the lead doe turned broadside at like 7 yrds almost right below me.. I drew picked a spot and let her rip..  shot alittle hi and spined her, she dropped like a rock and I launched another arrow ( double lung)  then the shakes set in.  she only went about 15 yrds.  over in like ten seconds.

It never gets old and is the most amazing and humbling experience..  wel had the backstraps at work today and they were sooooo  good.  good luck to all.    Pruski
