Great morning in woods
« on: November 03, 2015, 06:18:00 PM »
Yesterday evening I returned to an old haunt I had not hunted in a few years with my climbing stand. I had a close call with a sneaky coyote but could not get a clear shot. Went back this morning and action started quick.
Looking back behind me down over a small bank I spied what looked like a spike slipping around. Deer started appearing, seemed like everywhere, bucks grunting and crashing around. Could see 1 antlered buck but he was going away. I got my grunt tube and gave a few calls and shortly here came 3 spike bucks right up under me. With only 1 buck tag left I decided to pass on the youngsters.
Afer things settled down a little 2 does started working their way up the bank angling behind me. I got turned around waiting for them to walk into an opening and sent my wood arrow tipped with 160 VPA through her boiler room. After getting down and a 150 yard tracking job I had my second deer of this season. I,m trying to get a pic but my laptop is junked up and having trouble.

Congratulations!! Sounds like things are heating up down your way
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Any morning around deer is a good morning!

I've adopted too many bows that needed a good home.

What a beautiful hunt.  Good work tracking; for me, one of the most exciting things.  Congratulations!

Congrats! I'm having a tough time finding a cooperative doe so I can hunt the rut for a decent buck. Any other year I would be swamped with does.

Nice bow too!
