Anyone hunt 3c in PA?
« on: November 15, 2015, 11:52:00 AM »
Just wondering how the season is going up there.  My dad and I go up to a cabin near Elk Mountain every year. Had some pretty dismal years lately but it looks like things are getting better. Anyone have any experience with the pipelines and fracking companies? Some of the neighbors are considering putting a pipeline over our mountain and potentially a well.

Hunted up there my whole life and still do.  My grandpop lives in 3c.  All of the land and farms I used to hunt are fracked out now and the farmers asked me to no longer use their land, understandable I guess as they're now millionaires.  I have 2 spots left plus my pops 27 acres.  Deer numbers seem a little lower this year compared to others but I still wouldn't skip going up there for the world.  The pipelines make decent hunting spots for the first few years since they're planted over will clover but after that the ones by me became a hell hole of thick chest high weeds.  The wells can be incredibly loud at times. I did manage to score on a decent 8 this year though.  The wells are just a part of the area now.  They didn't "ruin" anything so to speak but they didn't improve it either.
