St. Judes Bow from Big Jim
« on: November 28, 2015, 11:32:00 AM »

I recently received the bow from the build that I won in the St. Judes auction.  I had always wanted a custom Big Jim bow and was on the waiting list prior to the auction but when I saw he was auctioning a build I just couldn't resist and had to bid!  In the past I had owned 2 thunderchilds and they were both exceptional and I was able to take 3 deer with one of them...but there was just something about the lines and shape of the Buffalo that captured my eye.  So when time came for the build to start I already had my dream bow in mind and Jim was able to bring it to life.  The wood combos were inspired from another bow I saw that were comprised of Koa, Wenge and Yew.  I love the warmth of the woods when they are brought together.  I also added Moose antler overlays and copperhead skins.  After receiving the bow, I shot several different arrows in various spines and materials both aluminum and carbon and found out that this bow prefers a stiffer arrow than some of my other bows and it is very fast!  I settled on a 28 7/8" GT trad with 200 Grains up front.  They are weighing in around 480 grains total.

Specs are 64" 50#@28

Im getting around 47-48 pounds out of it I believe.

Thanks, Jim!

Outstanding bidding and outstanding work by Jim! That's a bow that you'll carry a long time.

I've adopted too many bows that needed a good home.
