Help me match veneers to a riser!!!
« on: December 13, 2015, 09:31:00 PM »
These are stained burled elm.  I don't really know what riser material to match them with.  Anyone have a good idea?

They aren't spoken for by anyone yet either.....  just sayin'......

Myrtle and Maccassar would be my choice. Those are sure nice. I bet you get a neat bow. Please show it off before you sell it.

I think Chechen or Walnut with a  dark wood like maccassar or some darker brown/black wood.

Chechen or claro/bastogne walnut.  Cocobolo is also nice with elm.  You could do something wild like wenge, catalox, or African blackwood.

Any of the darker woods mentioned should be very handsome with those light veneers. Contrast is a wonderful thing with stick bows.

With the highly figured but lighter shade of the elm I would go with a dark riser without a busy grain...like wenge.

How about Maccassar with a burl stripe or flare with Maccassar limb blocks if it's going to ba a 3 piece takedown.
