Permanent ground binds
« on: December 25, 2015, 03:25:00 PM »
For next year, I am going to try to get Tonya to sit a few times while hunting on the ground. I need something that I can shoot a 66 inch longbow from and be able to contain scent. I have been looking online at the shadow hunter octogon, the banks stump, etc. I was going to try to drive somewhere but anywhere is a minimal 3 hr drive. Does anyone have any experience with this types of blinds.

The Hidden Hunter will accomodate your 66" bow and is adequate for 2. It is easy to set up and, best of all, it is made in America.

Tim: I have an older Primos Predator Max that will accommodate a 66" bow, however, the bow would have to be canted and shots would be limited.

Good luck in your search.

"be able to contain scent."  Good luck with that.  There isn't one made that will do that.

I have a hidden Hunter and a double bull recurve model. I wanted some that I could leave out all year made out of polypropylene or weatherproof.

Lucky you.  Scour trash days to pick up artificial tress to use as your permanent blind. Build up a blind in just a great great place with the wind I your favor

Like Roadkill, I scour the neighborhood for discarded Christmas trees to add to my brush blind. I have a large brush blind built alongside a blow down. I just have not enjoyed any of the tent blinds I have tried. They are too enclosed, and I can't see or hear well, plus they don't seem to accommodate my 68" bows very well. Mine is roomy. Also, I have planted greenery around it as a natural means of keeping it brushed in. Try it. You may find that keeping up a brush blind or two is actually sort of fun.

This was a thread from some time ago and has some good ideas for using what nature has. Terry has a pic on page 2(great artistry) and it cool.

I could be wrong but I think Shedrock built one also.  The one I was thinking of was based  metal wire rolls,at be four inch squares.  If you lines it with construction plastic, it might help with SOME scent control, or at least keep the wind off you on cold days.
