Widow PLX or Dwyer Dauntless
« on: December 30, 2015, 08:05:00 PM »
Headed to Kalamazoo in a couple weeks and I'll either be ordering a Dwyer Dauntless or a Widow PLX, I'll know after I shoot them both, but in the mean time I'd love to see some Dwyer longbows or Widow PLX's... lets see em!

Quite different bows.  Shoot each one and decide for yourself.

Both are great shooting longbows !!! I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

There will be a lot of great bows at Kalamazoo. You really owe it to yourself to shoot a bunch of them.

Both fantastic longbows......but the Dwyer's are prettier most times.

Never shot a widow but my Dauntless is the sweetest shooter I've ever held, and she's not hard on the eyes either, if I ever buy another bow it'll be another Dauntless, rest of the herd hangs on the rack and gathers dust since I got her.
Now we're digging where the taters are.

I have never shot a widow but I have had a Dauntless and I really regretted letting it go, smooth and quiet. But by being able to shoot them at Kzoo you will get a great chance to find out for yourself which one you like the best. Have fun testing

I've owned two Dwyer original longbows, both 66"s and they were excellent shooters. I owned a Dauntless for less than a week and sold it. Just didn't click for me. I would like to try one of those shorty Endeavors.

Only Widow longbow I've shot was an older LAG model.  Long time ago but I remember liking it.

I've owned all of the Dwyer models and several of each.  The Dauntless pictured was a "special" bow given to me by my wife and kids for my 40th.  Truly the one bow that I'd never sell.  It's all macassar riser and veneers with bamboo cores and accents with a beavertail grip.

Currently I'm shooting one of Dave's Original models most now.  Do yourself a favor and try one in Kzoo.
Feel free to pm me if you have more questions.
Mike

I've had my Widow for several years now and just couldn't imagine liking any longbow more.  I've shot some Dwyers at a show somewhere, and remember being pleased with them, but preferred my Widow.  I don't remember if I specifically shot the Dauntless model or not.

Great thread... I have a couple PLX's that I absolutely love. I have never seen or shot a Dwyer Longbow but this thread has definitely peaked my interest in trying one.

Dave, this is my 66" Olive Ash 2 piece. The Olive Ash is in my avatar but it is kinda hard to see. I will take a picture of my Kingwood and post it after while.
