NEW GEAR FROM TUSX
« on: December 30, 2015, 11:05:00 PM »
Trad gang sponsor Tusx has released some new gear.

 http://tusxhunter.com/

I will definitely be taking this new gear to New Zealand this coming May as I think it will do well over there on the extended hunts that Ozy Clint Paul rea and myself do.

I will do a bit of a gear review when we return from Mays hunt.
Kind Regards
Mark

Keith there are normal trouser hip pockets and 2  pockets on the right thigh.

Having pockets on the back would require stitching and that's what their trying to get away from on the rear. Also items in a rear pocket would get in the way when sitting/glassing etc, the thigh pocket is much more functional for close at hand small items of extra gear.

I disagree.  Ive never had an issue with sitting or glassing with my wallet or anything in my back pockets.  Its more comfortable for me that way.

I like zipper back pockets and the zipper cargo pockets.  Those are my two favorite features.

That's cool Keith everyone is different after all.
I am also a fan of zippered pockets  on my hunting gear (I hate losing things)

As I mentioned before, Tusx have tried to remove as much stitching and possible weak points from the rear/seat of the garment so we the consumer get something that is going to last,

and be a bit more comfortable at the same time while sitting on wet rocks and logs while chasing our desired quarry.   :)

I still think wind in your face is the best camo.
But yes the open pattern is good, it doesn't blob out as much.

Functionality of garment comes before camo pattern for me.

Look good to me.  I went on my first elk hunt this year and would've loved the ability to wear shorts during the warm afternoons.  I don't like back pockets.  In fact, I hate carrying anything in my pockets when I'm hunting.

Hey Craig,
How's things ?
It is the same pattern Clinton and I were wearing last year at the hut.

I haven't tried them in the cold yet. The Boulder pants fabric I was wearing last year is 185 gsm and it got down to -8 degrees C
(17.6 degrees F)
They preformed well with a base layer underneath (still bloody cold though)

The Schist pant is 265 gsm so they are thicker.
I am thinking they will do ok in the cold plus with the advantage of converting into a short for that hard grinding up those hills which I know you would like Craig being a Kiwi      ;)

If any of you guys are going to the Outdoor retailer show (winter market)Salt lake city, Utah
Then you will be able to see the Schist pant in person at the CORDURA brand booth.

It looked like good stuff. As you guys know, its no so much the temperature thats the problem, its the temp and the fact you will be wet that you have to watch out for.

yeah in NZ your either wet from the weather or pushing through wet bush or from exertion through sweating. they dry super quick which is a huge advantage in that climate.

Mark,
Great design on the jacket. Any chance of a removable hood? How about some earth tone non camo colors? How/where do we try on and buy your products in the States?
Thanks.

This is the reasoning behind Tusx not putting a hood onto their Boulder jacket.

Tusx gear is only available online at this time, with the USD being pretty good at the moment against our AUD, it is a good time to buy.

I have found Tusx's garment sizing to be pretty accurate to their sizing charts.

Regards
Mark.
