Several years ago, there was a fire on the land I lease.  They brought in bulldozers to create firebreaks.  One place they piled up a mound of dirt about 3 feet high.  It seems just about every animal that comes by it has to climb it.  These pictures are only a small sample of the "mountain climbers"-the camera is about 5 feet from the mountain.  My "buck" pictures.

This guy brought a corn stalk with him and left it on the ground.
And, later that day...

My pictures were disappointing this week.  I had deer walk in front of my camera 4X during the past 2 weeks.  a group of 3 does and and 2 different small bucks.  I was hoping to get some deer but also a bear.

The camera is going back out for 3 weeks today.  The rechargeable battery will likely die after 2.

Nice pictures Ken and John.

Tracy, I'll take the second one there. Any daytime pics yet?

The better deer here are all moving in the cover of darkness. Smaller bucks in day...

John saw a good one a couple mornings back...
Stay sharp, Kenny.

LOL.....notice the time. They don't get like that running around at noon time. Maybe he will stupid in a week or so Ken.

I have had a few new bucks show up during the past week.  I have my camera on a cedar tree on the edge of a field.  They make a big scrape under that tree every year.  The does have really been checking it out lately.  Things are starting to heat up.

This one has a messed up left side.  I think its a 6x3

This one is about the widest buck I've ever had on camera.  We don't see much width in our area.

This little spike looks constipated.

Believe it or not this buck is at least 3 years old. I've got pics of him the last 2 years. He hadn't shown up yet so I figured he was dead but he finally showed up on a camera I checked yesterday. He hasn't put on much if any since last year. Just goes to show that even in the Midwest not all bucks have the genetics to get big.
