3 piece suggestions

Hi All,

I really enjoy shooting a 1 or 2 piece hyrid longbow, like my Centaur or Big Jim, but I think I'd like to try a 3 piece take down out again.  I'm interested in having the versatility of various limb sets for different weights and to have both a longbow and recurve set.

I'm not asking for the "best" as I realize how subjective this all is, but I'd like to get a top 3 based on a few parameters that would give me a number of bowyers to narrow down the initial search.  

I like the slimmer profile riser that would be closer to my current bows rather than a large recurve style riser.  I'd prioritize performance over asthetics of the limbs.  I'd be fine with black limbs if they make a carbon model that is a performer.  I would like to have a really nice looking riser if all my limbs will be black.  I'd like the option to be able to customize the grip though it's not an absolute necessity.  I'm guessing a 15" riser would likely be a good size for me.  

I also include customer service as a big factor in my decision so if you've had really positive and responsive interactions with the bowyer please include that it your selection process.

If there is another factor I'm leaving out for a general description of what I'd be interested in let me know and I'll get back to you on what I'm thinking.

A Roy Hall is very nice, I have one of his older Navajos 62" #50 with the 18" riser, it's one of the life long keeper hunting longbows for me. I believe Roy makes it in a 16" riser now. He's in your neck of the woods Henderson, TX

There are many good bows to choose from.I love my Zipper ZSR,I have both longbow and recurve carbon&foam limbs for it.Another bow to look at!

+1 on the Tolke Lynx.  I've recently been shooting a r/d double carbon 42# one piece longbow.  I decided to go back to the 40# Lynx, just to see the difference.  I added a couple of feet gap at 50 yards, and the Toelke shot right over the backstop.  There ain't no difference between the 40# 3 piece Lynx and the 42# double carbon's trajectory, that I can see.

I've bought many bows over the years, and generally have had good customer service.  However, Dan's is head and shoulders over the rest.

I agree with a lot of the suggestions made here Tex', but reading your post very closely you described Dryad Bows or Zipper TO A TEE.  

Contact the Westvang boys or Bill Dunn asap with those exact parameters and they will hook you up.

I'm actually headed out to dryad tomorrow to shoot a few:).

I am really intrigued by what I've been reading about the Toelke Lynx as well.  

I'll get to feel the dryad grip tomorrow, wish I could get my hands on a few of the other grips.  I love my centaur grip.

The bowyers I have worked with were able to copy my favorite grip from the riser. I am with nineworlds, sounds like Dryad is the ticket. Riser meets yopur requirements and exceptional performing longbow and recurve limbs.

Do not overlook the Cari-Bow Silver Fox, fine bow and it meets your parameters.

Toelke Lynx. I like the Zipper suggestion but it's more of a "recurve" riser.

Had a very nice visit with Mike and Jason this morning at Dryad.  I has a chance to shoot the Orion RC and was lucky enough to shoot the new Origin RC.  Very nice shooting bows!  They'll definatley be strongly considered.

Danny, would you say the silver fox has more of a lingbow riser?  How would you describe the grip and how much does Abe customize it?

Zane you should call Big Jim and ask him about his three piece longbow. He doesn't advertise it,but I have two of them and really like them. I just received my second one and really like how he did the grip. We talked about it and as soon as hunting season is over I'm going to send both risers in and he will try to do my first one as close as he can to the new one. He will work with you,and his customer service is second to none.

Another bow you might consider is a Sarrels Blueridge. I drove over there and shot this bow,and ended up buying it. They are super nice people,and it has a real slim grip like you are talking about.
