60" Chinook
« on: January 11, 2016, 07:34:00 PM »
I was just browsing around on Dan's site and saw his latest post that he is once again building the 60" Chinook. I guess I know what my next bow will be    :goldtooth:

Sean, I'm loving my 56" Pika, but it's getting lonely on my bow rack and it needs a recurve to keep it company.

From henceforth a 2pc Chinook is about the only recurve I plan on owning anymore.  They are that good.

Interesting, I noticed Dan list a 58 and 60" in his description however he shows a 56" in his inventory. Recon I'll phone him tomorrow and get the scoop. Love a 50's style but love a Pika too. No wonder you want both! How do you choose which one to hunt with, just flip a coin the morning of the hunt?   :banghead:

I hunted with Brad Hawkins (Biatlonman) this fall and he let me shoot his Toelkes. Unbelievable shooters and Dan is the real deal, a heckuva fine individual and a Chinook will be my next bow once I get my new Tip in my hands.

Wonder if he redesigned the 60" or broke out his old form.  I've got an old 60" and it's almost the exact same length as a newer 58".  If it's a new form, anything like the 60" Lynx, it'll be a winner.  My 2 piece Pika is already glued up, won't be long now!

He built me a 58" Chinook last year. I draw 29.5 and I love it. I am thinking about getting rid of one of my old "go to's" and trying a Lynx next.

I agree. The 60" I had that's currently in transit to be reunited with its original owner took a 58" string with minimal twist to achieve proper brace height.

Hey guys, anyone with a 60" chinook and a 31" draw length?

I had a custom 58" chinook last year but the finger pinch at 31" was really bad, painful after a dozen arrows.

Dan just told me the 60" would be good, but last year he had said the 58" would handle it well. So any first hand expereince on here?

Reno, got a Chinok 58" 2p,great little bow love to hunt with it,but get you a 2p SS @64" and never look back I've got both and draw 29 1/2" both are great bows but I tend to go with the SS 2p.

Jarrod, I think 31" might be pushing it even with a 60" chinook.  The 60" Lynx though should be good.  One has to remember that Dan shoots 2 under which I think makes his recommendations a touch on the short side.

Ah dang. Thats what Im afraid of.

Whats the noticeable difference with the Lynx that would make it work? And how does it feel/shoot compared to the chinook?

Hm. The only other recurve that's on my list is a Caribow Tuktu EX since he's got it in 62".

I haven't shot a recent 60" chinook so I don't know if there was a design tweak recently or not.  I can shoot at 30" though about 29" is my sweet spot.  I could never make a 60" Lynx stack, I don't know what it is with those limbs but they feel like you could draw them forever.  Obviously the 3 piece has more mass then the chinook and I didn't think it was quite as fast.  Chad Holm makes a 62" River Runner.  If takedown isn't a concern it would be a good one to look at.
