Toelke Classic HS or Stewart Slammer

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these bows? I have shot a Classic HS and a three piece Stewart,but not a one piece one. I am thinking about getting a one piece longbow and these two interests me Any thoughts. Thanks. Bob

I don't have the HS, but I do have a classic and I have a Stewart - I would go with the Stewart. I just shoot it a little better. May just be me.

I have a bunch of bows, sadly no Toelkes, but my one-piece Stewart Slammers are always my favorites.  Also, Leon is a great guy and he usually has a fast turn-around on build time.  I highly recommend getting a Slammer.

I have shot both many times and prefer the whip.  With two 50# bows same length the toelke is so smooth it feels 3-4# lighter.  Whip also seemed quieter to me. Both great guys to deal with but Dan's turnaround is hard to beat.  Consider the bow bolt also.  It is slick!!!

I have not shot the Toelke, but I have shot the slammers.  I have not looked at another longbow since shooting the slammer, for me it just shoots were I look.  The one piece is my favorite.

Dude you need one of each.  I have experience with both and it's too close to call almost.  You would be thrilled with either.

I have had 2 Slammers and 2 HS Whips.When considering overall shooting qualities I personally prefered the HS.

Thats just my personal take on it.Opinions vary alot on this bow vs that bow.Some like one more and some another.

I'm shooting one of Leon's Slammers for almost five years and almost every day of the year. I just love it and it puts up quite well with my clumsiness. You'll enjoy Leon, too. I think they have trad night at his local club on Thursday so you can probably arrange to shoot his bows there. Great craftsman. Dwc

I've owned both and still own the Slammer.  The Toelke Classic Whips are king of quiet.  Other than that attribute the LS Slammer wins in all other categories for me.  I'm a big guy drawing 31".  Dan's bows are just too dainty for my taste.  Leon is a very nice and humble guy to deal with.  Good luck.

Remember Bob was asking about the HS Whip that's got the High Speed higher performance limb.

Not the older original whip limb that differs from the newer designed HS Whip limb by quite a bit.

Great choice in both bowyers.  Have owned both from new and what has been stated thus far is spot on!  I have owned four Toelkes and one Slammer.  

The only thing you should take from this thread is that they are both excellent choices.  Ultimately you know that YOU have to make the final determination.

Leon built my 46 # Slammer about 5 years ago and I shoot it almost every day. Just love it. I don't have a lot of experience with other bow, so I can't really compare. It's smooth and shoots heavy arrows (635 gr) plenty flat in hunting ranges. It's plenty tolerant of my clumsy ways. I shoot lots of blind bale, informal target and stumping. Leon's a great craftsman and has helped me become a better shooter with his quick to the point advice. I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever you choose. Best of luck, dwc

Good thing is you can try both from either bowyer with no obligation!  

If I were buying a bow I really wanted to have to pass down to my kids and grandkids, the Slammer is the one!
