Black Canyon Longbow
« on: January 14, 2016, 12:06:00 PM »
Who has one and what do you think?  Speed?  Forgiveness?  Id like a longbow as fast and stabile as my black widow and I love the grip on this bow and in diamonwood and actionwood, its about as gorgeous as they come. Specifically looking at the three piece.

The 3pc black canyon LB is one of the best bows I've ever shot hands down. Great fit feel and performance

I was looking into one a while ago, but I emailed the bowyer and never received a reply.

I held one in my hands at a Canyon City bow shop when I was on vacation a few years ago, and the shop owner sang its praises.

I couldn't shoot it though due to my left-handedness.

Own three, waiting on my fourth to be built. My favorite bows. Mike has been a personal friend of mine since I was a kid, so I kind of have a bias towards this subject.

CoachBgriff, try emailing Mike again. Bow building is a side job for him and between regular work, bow building and family life he can get busy and forget to get back to people. Mike is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and would not ignore you on purpose.

Mike is a really nice guy and enjoyed speaking with him when I was ordering my bow.  As others mentioned before, he does this part time in addition to his full time job and family activities.  His wait time is long but totally worth it.  I have two of his recurves and they are by far my favorites.  Here is my most recent one.

I have a BC 3 piece longbow that is my go to bow.  It's a sweet shooter.  Mike is building a matching recurve for me that I should have in a few months or so.

You can't go wrong with a Black Canyon bow from Mike Hays.

Stan,

That is a Thunderhorn Boa quiver.   Got this one to cover my Grizzly Broadheads and very happy with the quality, silence and tight fit.

I thought that is what it was. They are good quivers, I plan on using Grizzly's next season. Great Looking rig you have.

Thanks.  I have always been a fan of Great Northern quivers and still use one with shorter broadheads but with the longer profile of the Grizzly a larger hood was needed.  So far I am really liking the Thunderhorn and it is rock solid.

I shoot one of his 2pc take down longbows. I can't say enough good things about it. Fast, accurate, smooth, forgiving. Mike is also a good man.

I wanted to apologize... I didn't intend to say anything negative about Mike.. I completely understand how people can get busy!

The only bow of his that I got to hold was beautiful, and I love the lines on his 3-piece longbows.
