duco and aluminum

Can duco be used to glue nocks to aluminum shafts?
Old doesn't start until you hit three figures...and then it's negotiable

It's been working for me for nocks.

Yep, works for nocks for me to.  I usually use tape for fletching though.

Check that the Duco doesn't melt the plastic first but I always used Duco for point inserts, nocks and feathers on aluminum shafts.

Duco  does not work for me on aluminum. Clean with alcohol or acetone and use fletch tite. I've tried lots of different crown dips, but will only use Bohning paint now.  To just repair a mock, super glue works in a pinch too.

It never worked for me either. Besides until a few years ago Fletch tite was THE glue. The new stuff is for carbons or for use with Bohning paints. Now that the discount stores in this area have stopped carrying Duco it is not a less expensive alternative any more either. I use Saunders NPV glue for all my fletching and nock gluing. Super glues work as well if they are the rubberized type. If I was making stumping type arrows I would be less selective, arrows get busted anyway.

Duco is all I've ever used. I don't use it on fletching, but it's always worked great on nocks.

I use Bohning Classic nocks and don't even glue them on. Just push and twist into position. Done it that way for many years and NEVER had one come off except on a hard impact.

Other glues worked better for me

I have had Duco fail with swaged nock ends.  I tried Duco with shafts dipped in water base poly.  When I was turkey hunting I saw a yellow feather on the ground just like mine.  I thought to myself, 'I'll be danged there is someone using the same feathers as me around here. While I was sitting and calling there was another between my feet.  I lost four feathers off four arrows that I did that with.  Duco for wood, fletch tape and Gorilla Super glue for aluminum for me.

Duco is not compatible with aluminum and if you are just pushing your nocks on you are going to get a dry fire .

Haven't had good luck with Duco and aluminum.  Learned the hard way like several others have already replied.  Had feathers come off when the temperature dropped and I was already in the woods.
