I have never thought of myself as a poet but this year as I was immersed in the "growing oaks from acorns" for the first time I was inspired to right this poem.
- I’m a hunter - provider - conservationist by design
God created me this way from all else I resign
- We love the rut in the fall the strut in the spring
God created this cycle and His praise I do sing
- I’m a hunter at heart and few things quicken its rate
Like a gobblers spring chorus or a big bucks gait
- I take out of need but it also gives me pride
To provide that sweet table fare to tan that hide
- My Creator designed me to use and give back
This earth He put me on a sustainers heart I cannot lack
- Some view us as cruel, bloodthirsty without care
But a day without planning for sustaining life is quite rare
-Im a part of His creation a key part indeed
Given the task to manage……….. I pick up this seed
-It’s a small part I know the one that I play
A key part for this Mighty Oak on this fall day
-I plant you with care and with wonder watch you grow
Soon put in the ground in some kind of row
-You’ll have to survive winter, antlers and rabbits nibbling’s
To maybe hopefully someday you and I to be like siblings
-A special kinship indeed words won’t need spoken
I pray you’ll grow tall and that you won’t be broken
-I will sit in your branches longing to know your story
God’s creation on display a glimpse of his Glory
-We climb your heights or sit at your base
Awaiting the days first rays a chill they will chase
-The things we witness the things we see
Perched up in the branches of this Oll Oak Tree
-The perfect ambush you make the best view in the wood
My bow limbs bend back arrow placed where it should
-Many turkeys to shoot lots of deer also to take
This tree aids them in life but its meat that it helps me to make
-You provide acorns for critters homes for the tired
Beautiful wood and blazing heat for our furniture and campfires
-Thank you Lord for the Mighty Oak and for creating us to be Free
Life would not be the same without You or the Oll Oak Tree
