Anyone made one ...I priced a saw about a year ago and was at $250. I went to order tonight $314....HOLY CRAP!!

I have a drill at home.. I can get a cut off bit for minimal... Anyone successfully made an accurate one vs paying for the one that's as high as giraffe...(you finish that sentence )

If youre just cutting carbons, I just use a file. I wrap the end in electrical tape and cut along the edge. You can look this method up on youtube.

Harbor freight makes a little 2" cutoff saw for $30 that some people use if you want to go that route.

A dremel tool with a 1 inch thin cut off disc works great. I clamp the tool on the bench and lay the arrow up against the edge of the disc and turn the arrow slowly.

I do similar with a Dremel lightly clamped to a bench.  I clamp a v-block in front of it and a stop further down the bench to butt the nock against.  It's not pretty but it works well.

I use a Harbor Freight saw now.  Had to buy the carbide discs separately.  The metal blade it comes with is too coarse, IMO.

Before that I used a hack saw.  First put a layer of masking tape around the shaft where you're going to cut.  Then lay the shaft alongside a (1x4) board using the squared end of board as a guide to get a straight cut.  Saw gently.  Remove the tape and use a sanding block to true up the edge, again using the end of the board as a guide. Slightly champfer the outside edge with sandpaper. QED.

That little cut-off saw from Harbor Freight and the after-market blade are available from Big Jim. They work GREAT!

I made a jig to strap the dremmel tool to and just clamp a block at the desired length.

I use a tile saw.  If I didn't own it I would use my Dremel with a cutoff disc.

Dremel with diamond cutting wheel. The standard cutoff works well too but the diamond one is bigger and I already had it from cutting glass bottles into slides for guitars.
