wood to alum deflection charts?
« on: October 18, 2007, 11:57:00 PM »
I have these charts at home however they can't be found by my gooder half.

I'm looking for deflections charts from wood to alum.  Is there any online?

there was also a way to convert spine to deflection and I can't for the life of me remember how.

I have a few spine conversions along, but need to find a few more.  trying to get my lil bro's longbow tuned up.   He's shooting good, his bh's aint!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dan in Mn

I know someone has this stuff.....  It was at one time posted online and I was also given some to fill in the gaps where needed so it's nothing new or secret juju  :D .

Should clarify, I'm looking for the deflection charts for alum to spine in pounds.   Want to see if there is anything near the shaft we are thinking he needs to be shooting.  Just in case it doesnt work.

To convert spine to deflection, the formula is: 26/spine = deflection

To convert deflection to spine, its 26/deflection = spine

This is assuming that the arrow supports are 26" apart, and deflection is measured using a 2 lb. weight hung at the midpoint (13" from either end).

There is a chart at the bottom of this build-along.  http://www.jamesmhill.com/Spine_Tester.html

Just an update now that I'm back home.

We got him flying perfect before I left.   Again thanks for the info.  Kinda stinks being so far away and not having access to my notes.....and starting to get to old to remember it  ;)
