Anyone have trad Africa hunting videos and/or books?
« on: February 24, 2016, 06:51:00 PM »
I recently decided to do everything I can to hunt Africa next august. Wondering if anyone has videos or books on africa with trad gear they might lend or sell cheap. Part of making it possible to go is cutting all costs I possibly can, hence the lend request, rather than just buying what I can find at 3rivers. It will be tight but I'm prepared to do whatever I need to to make it happen. Having some motivation would help me out! Pretty much watched what little there is to find free online already

I have these from this past July in South Africa! (click on the pic to watch the video)

All three of these were shot with my Sarrels Blueridge longbow, 50#@29.5". I used Eason Full Metal Jacket arrows and German Kinetic broadheads.

Africa is a special place for a bowhunter!!!

Also, try to get this book:

African Hunter Shot Placement Pocket Field Guide

It is a great resourse for African animal anatomy. Their vitals are mostly forward of where we would shoot a whitetail.

Al I know you have seen our 12 part series on Namibia but I have a 30 or so hours of raw footage from earlier Namibia hunts as well as hunts in South Africa and Zimbabwe that I hope to produce into some videos later this spring.  Stay tuned and I sure hope you get to make the trip.  I have hunted in a lot of awesome places but nothing comes close to bowhunting Africa.

Bisch, nice shooting! I will be going to Namibia. Were the German Kinetics you had originals or the new ones? Look like they worked well.

Mine are all original GK heads from Germany. I hit the gemsbok too low and we had to chase him around a bit. We got him in the end, but the shot did not go how I intended it to! The warthog shot is one of the best shots I have ever made!!!

I would love to have one but cannot find any version anywhere except on amazon for $125! Google has some decent ones you can download I have been looking at

Here is the one John3 had:   http://www.shopdeerhunting.com/the-perfect-shot-mini-edition-for-africa?r=googleshopping&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&cid=600&mr:trackingCode=ED2EE81E-4016-E311-A0B9-BC305    BF9268C&mr:referralID=NA&mr:device=c&mr:adType=plaonline&gclid=Cj0KEQiA6bq2BRC6ppf0_83Z1YIBEiQAgPYNvZIMKs3tIyF2PTF_azwoUnzom9ztCXo7kdD9OgrpHN8aAi-n8P8HAQ

And here is the one I recommended:      https://www.krieghoff.com/product/african-hunter-shot-placement-pocket-field-guide/

Neither anywhere near $125!!!

I have both books. There is a few critters in each book that are not in the other. I just want them for the anatomy. I know where the arrow needs to go once I know where the heart and lungs are.

Never would have found either of those on my own. My Internet search skills are weak. Much better pricing than the full size original print!
