Best trail camera $100-150
« on: February 29, 2016, 06:07:00 PM »
I need to buy some trail cameras that are dependable and can make some decent pics at night. I need something that isn't too expensive around $100-150

Don't know about the best but I have 6 Bushnells from Wal Mart at $99 a piece. Great camera. The only one not working for me now is one that was stolen! Very dependable simple to operate.

Brownings are good but to be honest it's hit and miss for all of them.  I have some that last for years, some don't make it a week.  Warranties handle most problems but most all current cameras are average 3 year deals.

I ran the DLC Coverts for years, but they died on me this past year.  May get a couple more as I still have the bear proof steel cases you put on tree with lag bolt and hate to not use them LOL...so last year I changed to the Browning Strikeforce HD and do not regret it a bit.  I had one snafu with IR light not activating at night...called Browning...told me to update my firmware.  I download firmware on SD Card, go out to woods...walk to all my cameras, activate the SOFTWAR UPDATE and 20 seconds it was done.  Move to next one....worked like a charm.
Keep em sharp,

We have run upwards of 30 cameras a year across numerous makes.  Consistently the best have been the Moultrie M880 IR version (do NOT get the white flash version).  Long battery life, OK trigger speed, crisp pictures, even at night, due to the "stop action" feature.  I buy them in 4 packs for around $105 each.

Browning is the same thing made by Moultrie with just a little different front bezel.  Some of the guys have those and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

Don't get Wildlife Innovations...I have 3 that aren't working...they have no repair department so after the 1 year warranty you're screwed

Covert Black 60 has been good for me.  Have heard good things about the Brownings also.  Thanks Gandolf, looking at that one now.

I use a stealth cam that takes great pictures during the day.  I wouldn't know about night, because all the night pictures are completely unrecognizable.

I have stealth cams cheap but don,t last plastic closers break ! I also have 3 moultrie 990I not bad but not without night time issues, forget there service dept. Hands down thus far my nod goes to cuddie back , easy to use and set up decent pics, good battery life , and most important they have a great service dept. with actual humans, and fast service the best I have ever dealt with .
