I have a chance the get one of these in decent condition for $125 but it will need a tip overlay refinish and riser holes filled. Worth it?

If it were me? In the weight I wanted and if I shot recurves, Yes; that'd be a fun project. The bowyer forum here has lots of tips, advice, and help if you need it too.
I've refinished a few bows, and the one tale away that I learned is that my draw back is my own patience, not the skill involved. I use tung oil, but 20 people will suggest 20 options.

Also, if the riser holes need filled thats not a huge undertaking either - probably the hardest part is re-matching the stain and finish to the test of the riser.

Well posting for opinions on here gave me time to think and I passed on the bow. Would have loved to have it but I need to be saving for Africa. There will be time to get sweet old bear bows after I get back! Gotta reign in that impulse purchase instinct

That's a fair trade off! Good luck in Africa!

Check the limbs to make sure they are not twisted. String the bow and sight down the string, turn it over and check to see if tips are pointing up when the back of the limb is horizontal. Many can be straighten, but then after 50 yrs. some are permanent. Check the Restoration 101 on the Collecting forum, very detailed.
