I've had mine for not quite a week and I could not be happier. I'm mad at myself for not getting one sooner though. There just something awesome and easy about it. I love how the bow tells you when you don't shoot her the way she likes to be shot. Instant feed back! But when you do your part it just the sweetest shot sequence I have experienced.

Took the new Wesley for a walk this morning. Got into two different bunches of antelope, but as usual, they presented no shots. But I did a good bit of stumping, and I am already loving this bow. The thing just draws so smoothly, and it is practically silent.  Here's a pic at sunrise.

I've been following this thread for a while now. Really enjoying it and have learned a lot about Hill style bows. I've shot longbows for many years but never Hill style.
I picked up a used(built in 2011) Northern Mist Classic this week. It's 68", 49@28, brown glass, bamboo cores, power wedge tips, straight grip. I had shot just 20-30 arrows through it one afternoon and had quickly figured out a pretty good arrow for it. I haven't played with brace height or nock point yet - just shooting it as the previous owner had it set up.
Today shot at the range with my buddies. Shot the first round with my Black Widow PLX. Shot the second round with the NM. Shot 10 points higher with the NM. Really liking the bow. I've bonded with it so well that I'll be hunting with it when deer season opens in a couple of weeks.
I'll try and post some pics of the bow in the next few days...
A big thanks to all who have contributed to this thread and gotten me excited about Hill style bows.

OK Hill Gang,  have a question that I know you guys can answer.  I have heard of, but have not seen, a Howard Hill Limited Edition comemerative belt buckle with an inlayed Hill broadhead.  I have searched the obvious forums here on Trad Gang and also searched on Yahoo, but no joy. I emailed Craig Ekin and he said there were 250 of them sold, he thinks in the early 90's, and he hasn't heard anything about them since.  He also said they sold very quickly, so I know some of you must have one hidden away somewhere.  Would like to see a picture if you have one and maybe a source where one could be purchased if possible?  Thanks.  -Mac

I've been watching too.

Very early on in this thread, I thought about getting a Hill style bow, but the changes were too intimidating: straight handle, very little shelf, new arrows, a long longbow....

Three months ago, I picked up a used NM Classic similar to Wally's, though a bit older, I think: 68" 50# @ 28", clear glass over bamboo.

My fears were unfounded! The straight handle is not problem. I thought that I would be forever adjusting the my grip, but not so. The bow seems to always be in the same spot without thinking about it.

I pretty much hit what I want with the Douglas Fir arrows that I put together, though the flight isn't what I want. I still need to work on my form, which seems to be a bit more critical than with my R&D longbows. I guess my tuning might not be spot on either.

All in all, I'm happy with my classic, and I look forward to the posts to come on the this thread. Only wish I lived closer so I could make the pig hunt!

I had the same concerns you did about the straight grip but just like you was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use.

My goal is to end up using wood arrows but with deer season so close I'm using carbons because I can tune with them quicker as I have several spines on hand. Also, for now, I wanted to take the wood arrow variable out of my learning curve in learning to shoot the Hill style bow.

Chuck - in case you want to try carbons - since we're shooting almost identical bows you might be interested to know I found the Beeman Bowhunter ICS 400's, full length with a 200 grain point fly real good for me. That arrow ends up around 515 grains - a perfect weight in my opinion for the bow weigh we're shooting.

Here I'm Shooting my Hill style longbow made by Mr. John Lee, All bamboo backed with green glass, and belly glass is old school yellow, Around 75@28.. Nice deep handle, Copyed off of one of Howard's hunting bows...

I know Northern Mist and Great Northern split a special order run of green glass so they could offer it, but does anyone offer yellow glass like Cody's new HH bow has?  I would love a bow with a black back and a yellow belly.

That's pretty Mudd, but no, I mean good ole bright yellow...like a banana.  I know that to many, it would be obnoxious, but I love the high contrast combination of black and yellow.

Don't get me wrong, I love the aesthetics of natural wood tones, and I really LOVE my HH 'Robin Hood' for that reason.  But if I could get a custom Hill style bow with black and yellow glass I might have to start saving my pennies.  The last custom bow I had made, by Lost Creek, was black and yellow, but I sold it after getting and falling in love with my HH bow.
