Well, just did a deal on the classifieds for a Big River Hill style, 65 pounds to match my age! These dang Hill style bows are way too addictive. Shooting this one should make pulling my 55# Wesley easy as pie. I should be getting it in a few days, then I'll start building up to it, since I haven't shot more than 60 pounds for a few years. If Charlie Lamb can shoot a heavier Hill, I should be able to.

Your gonna like that Big River......

Centaur, I hear them heavier bows pull easier up at your altitude.  :D

I traded for a Shrew Hill named "Ol Mac" and a Shultz all natural "Old Favorite" and I am feeling the love. I am real impressed with both of them. The Shrew Hill is a super pleasure to shoot, has to be the easiest Hill style longbow I have shot. And the Shultz is a classic, bamboo backed Yew, it just screams Classy.

Mr. LaClair  if you know anything about the Ol Mac, feel free to let me know.

Yes, it will probably feel more like 64.99 pounds!

Ron, back when you were the only Bowhunter in MI you could probably use a glossy bow, wear buckskins (and not get shot by a crossbow), and not shower in a few weeks, yet still bring home the venison!!!    :bigsmyl:

Send me the pic of the same scenario in 2012!  Those skins might need an adjustment though.  Seriously, those pics are cool, thanks for sharing.

The Shrew Hill that I owned was just plain lovely!!!  I let it go after debating about trying to re-size the grip.  I just didn't want to risk damaging such a nice bow...plus it was 68 inches versus my preferred 66".  They sure are nice!!
Have a nice day!

Kevin, who ended up with Tom-Tom the HH half breed? I still don't shoot RH but I like to keep track of it in case I ever do.

Danny aka Ric-O-Shay has "Tom-Tom" and he seems to have too much sense to let it go....I have explored this with him  :)  LOL!!!!  He agrees that it is an awesome bow and that I'm not quite right in the head for letting it go  :)
Have a nice day!

Thought I'd put up this picture just because. No real story here. I got in a tree in a good spot, one deer came in I shot it and it died under my stand.
Ten minutes later the second deer came in I shot it and it died 15 yards from my stand.

Both meat deer and complete pass through with four blade Magnus I (wildcat... ground to 1 1/4" w/Bear bleeder).
Bow was "Stubby" my 70" bamboo and glass bow, 58# @28".

frassettor, you will, my friend. Just you wait and see.  Once the bug bites there is no remedy short of owning one.  :D

Louie,

Carl Mulke was the one that died in Africa while Hill was there, and Rev. Bigelow died at a later date, both by elephants.

Nice shootin' Charlie.  You might not think it's much of a story, but I think it's really cool.  I doubt there are many of us who can say they got a "two-for".  I sure can't.

Dang it time got away from us on our meet-up. Maybe after season we could get together. The only problem is I only currently have 1 Hill, and it's 115# @ 28".
