Nate I would agree I had a recurve that looked fine at brace but the upper limb had a hinge as it was drawn.
I do not note any difference in pressure in the grip as the bow is drawn. If I slide my grip down a 1/4-1/2inch and apply more pressure to the bottom fingers which noticibly lowers pressure point on the grip the arrows do seem to flatten out some.
A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight;nothing he cares about more than his own personal safety;is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Well I finely got out to do a little hunting this weekend. I haven't had a year when I haven't had venison in the freezer by now. I've got a good excuse and you can read about it on the prayer/concerns thread

It sure felt good to be in the woods, the smells, sights and sounds were great therapy..    :scared:   "Red Wolf", my Shrew Hill is itchin to make meat and if all goes well it won't be long...      :archer2:

Ron I'm glad you're back to feeling well enough to hit the woods.

It's been a rough time for several of us older members but we keep chugging along.

I thank God for all of our blessings.

Ron, good to hear you a back out there chasing them.  I was reading a Longbow Digest with an article about you in it from the 80's.  Really think it is cool that you are hunting with a Hill style longbow.  Is this a "Return to innocence" so to speak for you?

Ron,

Glad to hear your better, and you've been out in the woods again.

I just got back from the woods about an hour ago. Because of Sandy, there was at least 8" of water everywhere. Finally, I found an area that was high a dry, and it had good signs of hogs and deer passing through. Will be out there next week  :)

You know everyone is busy this time of year when the Hill thread moves to page 2!  Back up.  I've had far fewer encounters this year, EHD has taken its toll where I hunt. Here's a nice buck I saw in September alive, and found it the other day.  I figure its EHD, but its hard to know when it's half eaten.  I'm excited to hunt south of Michigan with my Northern Mist classic this week.

I lost my power from Hurricane Sandy (still out), so I decided to do a traditional project working by candle and oil lamp.  My Big-Five needed a new leather grip so I removed the old one.  I found the middle of the handle has a strip that was untreated and not sealed??  I traded for this bow so who knows.  I sanded and sealed the section with Poly.

I wanted to use some buckskin I tanned a while back from a doe I shot.  I thought, "Why not go all out and make some sinew lacing out of the back sinew".  that was the hardest part.  After it was done I sealed the sinew with poly to waterproof a little.

I think it came out ok for my first wrap!

In my opinion what you done to personalize your "Hill" has to be the one way to improve on something that is about as close to archery perfection that comes to mind.

Good job!

God bless,Mudd
