"The Safari" was a bamboo limbed model
"The Highlander" was a yew limbed model
I have a "TheSafari" that one of of the lams goes to the belly side of the riser and another  that all the lams go to the back. I have 2  Highlanders built both ways also.
I think my "YewBet" bow is just an all yew(limbs&riser) version of "The Highlander" because the serial number begins with an H.
I have a "BamYew" that has both bamboo and yew limb lams."The White Mountain" is a one of kind string follow, bamboo limb (moso&tonkin) with glass on the back only that was built for Bob Burton, who was friends with Pete.I love that bow. If Pete was still building bows,I'd have one made for sure.I'd like to try one of David Miller's split bamboo bows as they look to be built very close to the same.
All of the Timberlines I've seen have had very nice riser wood. I have one that has a very gorgeous piece of myrtle burl.
Some of mine have tip overlays, some don't.All but one have a tip wedge. Overlays are sheep horn, buffalo horn or match the riser wood.
If you want to know about Timberlines,Shulz, J.Harrison bows,or pretty much any of the top longbows,Leo Markert is THE man to ask.

There is a section in that book that describes draw length as well.
He describes how you stand up straight take a broom handle and hold it out 90deg to your side, turn your head and concentrate on the knuckle of your index finger, then have someone measure from there to the corner of your right eye, take that measurement and subtract 1.5" that will be the length of arrow you should shoot. for me it equates to 26". Since I've tried this my draw elbow has never felt better, and my accuracy is like shooting a shotgun, point it right and it hits most of the time.

Good luck David.

Hey swampthing, I just tried that measurement out.  The distance from my knuckle (actually the far side of the broom handle) to the corner of my eye closest to my nose is 24"!!  So I should shoot crossbow bolts of 22.5".

When I check my actual draw length it measures 24 3/4" and I currently shoot 26" shafts.  I wonder if there's a threshold where this measurement no longer works.  Ever heard of anyone shooting sub sub 23 inch arrows?  Sounds absurd.

So on top of being girlish I also have incredibly short arms.  Kinda like T-Rex arms.  My day couldn't be more uplifting.

That's a great picture with your daughter.
What kind of bow is hers? I'm looking for a Hill style longbow for my daughter.

MikeB,  you do that to the back corner of your right eye, toward the ear not nose, for a right hand shooter. You also extend the arm and stand up straight, not locked out, but extended with a kink in it.

Hey dragonheart.  Did you post photos of your daughter with that bow before?  I'll bet that bow shoots those spruce arrows real nice.

Love to see kids involved in archery, especially girls.  I'm so glad my girlfriend enjoys shooting the longbow.  Such a great sport for young kids.  As you guys know you need a lot of patience and discipline if you want to get good at this archery thing.
