I did it once with acme cedars with a Hill broadhead. The problem was I made a bad shot and hit my McKensie deer target in the neck. Made one good shot next, and then another bad shot in the neck, right down the throat of the first bad shot. I am always amazed how easy it is to duplicate a bad shot, I break more nocks missing than hitting some days.

The wood grain needs to be straight, so, my bet is it can be duplicated with Surewood firs. Just not by me :(

That was my thought. If they had a laminated shaft with the grain running straight all the way down it wouldn't have broken off half way down. If they were going to cheat they could even have cut a shallow kerf down opposite sides of the shaft.

That bundle of shafts they had looked like 3/8" ramin or something dam close from the looks of the orange paint on the ends.
I thought at one point they obtained some good shafts from Ted Fry at Raptor, but I could be mistaken.

That is a very nice looking bow, Eric! I need to try a Whisper, or maybe the new J.D. Berry sometime just to see what a reverse handle bow is all about.

Chuck,
That JD berry you speak of comes off that exact same form that your misty dawn came off of. Just imagine that bow with the groves cut opposite. OH I bet it's sweet,

At one point they were using a shooting machine outdoors and they said they switched from dowels from the hardware store to some cedars.
I think they did use a broadhead in the movie. I believe it shows the shaft being split not just a before and after.
They also show Mr. Hill and some of his trick shots. If he can cut a string he could have split that arrow.
They want to see someone do it one right after the other on command when with all their cheats they couldn't even do it once.

Mr Hill knew he could not split a cedar shaft, so he used a Bamboo arrow....
I hate Myth busters, their idiots....
They called Mr Hill a liar and Hathcock, the Marine sniper that shoot the NVA sniper through the scope....
They could not duplicate Mr Hills shot or Hatchcock....
Sorry to rant, but as you can tell they irrate me....

Yea Mike if they can't do it on the first try then "It can't be done". The reason they were haveing trouble with the arrow deal is that the compound they had was horribly tuned. You think they could have got somebody that knew how to set up and shoot. Also they put a horn wedge in the nock just to make sure it wouldn't happen.

If I remember right there were a number of partial splits filmed, but the camera could not pick up the action, so in the movie what was actually seen was the reverse of the arrow being pulled out of the split. My point being, even if it was not the real thing on the movie, what difference could that possibly make, it is a movie. Now what I would like to see them disprove is that string of quail and rabbits. You think splitting an arrow is tough to do, try shooting more than just one quail in a day.

Eric, very nice looking bow. My Northern Mist Whisper really is easy to shoot. Very forgiving. Hope your new bow is the same.

Yes they are irritating. I can usually see all kinds of options that they don't. Not that I'm all that smart. I watch the Sci channel or the History channel while on the eliptical at the gym. I don't have satelite at home. At least this one was more interesting.
I did some more reading and I quess Mr. Hill wasn't able to get that shot. So what, he's still the best there ever was.

I had the opportunity to talk to Bob Wesley today and i'll tell you he is one nice guy. He had a lot of interested things to say and i ended up on the phone for 15 minutes before i knew it.I asked him what kind of bows he liked to shoot and he said he shot all kinds which was a surprise. I then asked what was his favorite and that wasn't a surprise "HH Wesley Special" Of course!. I asked if he shot fast like Howard and he said no, he teaches his students to hold the bow at anchor for the count of three. I said well i bet i'm over bowed. He said that is very common and wanted me to try bow 9# lighter. He also said until you find your back muscles yo wont truly find accuracy. I would love to take his shooting class because he didn't know how much longer he would be teaching it.All in all it was very exciting to talk to one of the legends in archery.

That's cool. I've never met Mr.Wesley, but from watching his video and reading his articles,he seems like a 1st class guy. I'd love to go to his shooting class also.Never mind the tips you'd pick up,he's got to have some really cool stories to tell. No mater what I'm involved with, logging, falconry, archery, ect., I like to talk to the "old Timers" that were doing it years ago. Alot of those guys were the real deal, they just don't make them like that anymore.
