I pondered for a bit on the placing of the overlap, but, with all my other Hill quivers having lacing on the back, in this one I wanted the back to be free. Having crawled thru briars and saplings I've had the lacing get hung up and wanted to try this design. Even standing and walking I've had limbs catch the lacing and pull the sapling along for a while, whipping the sapling and creating movement I'd rather avoid. Although rare to catch, I was just trying to smooth out the back side for that very reason. I'm kinda clumsy too, which doesn't help.

And unfortunately I don't have alot of wool outer garments.   :(

In reality I have only about $45 in it as far as material goes and maybe two hard hours of work. They're really quite simple in design even if you add some quirks in there.

My next build will likely end up in NY   ;)

I have had it, when taking my quiver off and finding a stick stuck in the lacing. I have also cut the lacing on the inside with a Deadhead when ramming a quiver full of broadheads into a tree, and wished at the time that there was something in the quiver to give some protection for that.

I relaced the darker quiver after going on the Hill Hog hunt. I had a Hill BH stick thru the seam and was dangerously close to cutting my right arm while walking. About an inch was sticking out. It didn't cut the lacing, but, could have easily if any pressure would have come upon the other end. A good, solid, close fitting and tightly sewn base is a must.

It didn't help I was soaking wet from all the rain....which will relax even the tightest lacing.

Great job on the quiver!!!  I have to get off my butt and make a quiver for myself since I gave all my back quivers away to  a family of leftys, that's how I do my top cowl..handstitch and on my last quiver I made instead of lacing I did all handstitch, I wish I didn't let that one go..like I said a great job..looks good and very functional

Worked on the old HH quiver a bit today. Used Murphy's Oil soap to clean it up then applied liberal amounts of extra virgin olive oil. Its looking good, I'll post a few pics after the final application.

Also picked up a copy of Ekins book recently, a good read so far.

I got n the list last July so this moment has been waited on a long time - kinda makes it more enjoyable in a way...

@goshawkin - I was keen on a Hawk too but in the end I went with glass for the 'indefinite' life span. I've got a string follow Old Tom which shoots as smooth as my Schulz all bamboo - that's what sold me on it in the end. The new carbon backing is supposed to make for an excellent bow.

Sounds like a real deal bow Ross, let us know how she shoots. I don't own any bows with carbon. Interested in knowing about it's attributes....Ahhh

Ross, That's why I want a brand new no glass bow. I figure if I don't over draw it it should last as long as I'll be able to draw it.The Expedition with the carbon sounds great though. Might have to move a couple guns and get both!
Does yor bamboo Shulz have glass? I have a Shulz "The Favorite" bamboo with brown glass back & belly that's a real nice shooter.
