Very nice, Andrew. I've been wondering when you would give a Hill style bow a try. Enjoy!

Nice bow Mudd!

Here are some shots from today.  The pink arrows are Doug fir and I shoot split finger with them , the yellow fletch are CX 90s and I shoot carbons 3U. Exact same bow, and everything I'm weird but shooting woodies I feel I need to shoot split. This is one of my 6 arrow rounds. I shoot one carbon and one woodies and alternate.

I mised a little low left with the CX on the ball.

Shooting the Vixen as usuall.  This bow was built with majic in it I believe. The Morningstar and Misty dawn are great but the vixen has stolen my heart.
Shots were from 20-22yds

I was talking on the phone(speaker on)with Tony and trying to demonstrate to him just how quiet "The Hawk" is when my second arrow created quite a ruckus....lol

I hate it when this happens especially when the 1st arrow isn't inside the ring where it's supposed to be.

One more added to the memorial.

God bless,Mudd

I'm disappointed MUDD, I used to see your bows up on the classifieds a week after you got them, it's been slim pickins lately!    :dunno:

I am thinking of doing some thinning of the herd to make room for some others on my "follow your dream" journey but nothing is going up until St Jude auction is behind us. I wouldn't want to give cause to anyone not having money on hand to bid high and often for the children.

Well, been playing around with my new/used Northern Mist Classic.  Again, she's 68" 54@28.  So far she likes GT 3555's 29" with 300 up front, and 2016's 29" with 250 up front.  Both weighing in right about 600 grains.  So far, I've settled on a brace height of 6 5/8".  Anyone with a Hill style bow of similar specs, are your setups similar?

I'm loving this bow.  I have been struggling with some intense pain in my string shoulder for some time, and today the pain abated long enough for me to spend some time with this bow.

This is my first Hill style bow.  It has a locator grip.  I have never owned a straight grip, was always leery of them, as they looked awkward, coming from my locator/recurve grip background.  BUT, I'm finding I miss that material removed for the locator grip.  It's hard to convey, but my hand feels like it wants a straight grip...just putting my hand in a position to mimic a straight grip seems natural, if that makes sense.

I think I'll pick up another NM Classic, but with a straight grip and about 45-48#.  This 54# is kinda kicking my chronic shoulder pain's butt.

Again, here she is

My HH bows seem to like arrows spined at the same weight as my bow weight. That set up is what I have always got the perfect paper tear from. I have tried stiffer and weaker but I always go back to the same spine.

Must be, I have never seen one and I've been around a while.    Left handed bows of any sort can be pretty scarce.

Hey Andrew,
Sorry I've been too busy hunting to check in here much lately. I think you are in the zone with the arrows and brace height. I drew that bow longer so I used a little heavier setups; CE250s with 325 total up front, and 2117s with 210 up front.

I sure hope your muscles and shoulders settle into the draw weight, if not you can order a new one from Steve or ask him to reduce this one. It might come down into the top of your zone if he can do it.

Thom, I went back out with the NM Classic last night.  We're getting along much better now!  My shoulder pain was affecting me with all my 50#+ bows.  It was like I was hitting a wall at about 24" of draw.

I'm not sure why it's been extra aggravated lately, but I'm glad it's abating.

There are definitely less of them made but I think the bowyer who built the bow would influence value more significantly. Often times leftys sell for less due to a smaller buyer pool unless you get a few competitive buyers then the highest bidder wins..

Are any of you Hill guys located near northeast Missouri?  I would really like to try out some Hill-style bows before buying one (although maybe I will hate them, which would save money!).  I was intending to go to the Compton's event in KC this year to see how the different grip types felt and maybe get to shoot some bows, but the plans fell through.  Anyway, PM me if you are nearby-ish and wouldn't mind someone paying you a visit to try your bows!
