I have never been able to get the "hitting them like HH" link to work.  My iPad wont do it because it is not compatible.  My home pc won't do it as it takes forever to watch 5 seconds of it and them just says its loading until I give up.  My computer at work does the same thing.  I have the book but the video would be great.  I wish somebody would put it on a DVD so I could buy it.

Brazos,

Apparently it was available on DVD for a time, but has been discontinued.  I have never stumbled across a copy, but I think some guys around here have one.  It's a shame because it really is a great video.  Keep your eyes peeled and you might find one.

I've been enjoying following Charlie's buildalong And thought I'd post a couple of pics of a couple of bows Charlie made for me so every one can see the finished product. The pics don't in any way do the bows justice, the workmanship is incredible and I can't say that I've ever shot a nicer Hill style bow ever.    This one is Cocobolo with brown glass

I found Shulz's videos on YouTube. You need to do a search forJohn Shultz not shulz. It should work on your mobile devices.

But his name is Schulz--no "t" in it.

It is entered on YouTube as John Schultz. I know it is misspelled.

Trapped the limbs to reduce weight. It's now at 5 pounds over target weight which I can easily reduce.
The bow was then drilled for center and shelf.

I made a string for it last night and shot a few shots out of the bow at this heavier weight. Smooth drawing, fast and gentle in the hand. Tiller is almost perfect. That will be finished as I bring it to final weight.

Started working the riser to shape. All layout lines are for roughing out the riser. Once I bring it to these lines the riser will be shaped by eye alone.

I'll preserve the center lines until the last. Especially on the hand side of the grip. If the grip were made off the center line it could lead to unwanted torque in the finished bow.

Charlie, looks like it's right on track.

It brought a smile to my face and heart when I read that you had already put a string on it and flung a few arrows out of it.

That reminded me of the cook who takes small tastes of his dish just to see if the taste is what he wants it to be.

I would have done the same thing but for me it would just show my level(absence) of patience or lack thereof...lol

God bless,Mudd

Going for 55# Roy. It will be there today and I'll probably get a coat of finish on her this evening or tomorrow.

I can tell you that at this point in the build I'll need to exercise a lot of self discipline to keep from getting in a hurry to be finished and shooting her. Patience is key to a good final product regardless of what that may be.

The bow has been brought to weight and tiller. I've shaped the grip and riser and trued up all the lines of the limbs and finished the tips.

The string tracks down the center of the limbs as they should and I'm closing in on the finish sanding.

The riser is a lot lighter in color than what I'm use to as well as being physically lighter.

The piece of wood is "fiddleback" and you can see that a little. It should really pop once the finish is applied.

I've got a nice piece of leather for the grip and can't wait to get to that point.
She's got a name too.... "Myrtle".

Pretty wood in the riser.  It's a shame to cover it with leather but would look weird w/o it.

Charlie,
That bow is going to be uglier than home made soap when it's finished. Tell you what. Send it to me and I'll find it a good home. Anything for a friend!
God Bless
