Glad to hear it!

Might just have to send another order JD's way, provided I can keep it under my wife's radar....

Thanks!

Me and Second Chance got the pleasure of spending 3 full days up in the High Plains region trying to nail down some free range hogs.  Combine Big Country with lots of rain, and those hogs are hard to find.  Lots of "they've been here", but no "here they are".  There was a bit of blood shed on the last morning though.....but only in self defense.

It's always the last arrow I shoot that does the trick Charlie.    :D

Actually there were two of us shooting at him while trying to keep a 2 y/o GSP from getting too close.  Nothing like having your hands full when trying to dispatch an annoyance like that.

I keep getting some nock bounce (sounds like a little click) shooting 29" 35-55 GT Trads with 145 gr tips out of my 66" 50@28 Owl.  Even though I have been moving my nock point all the way up to 9/16" high.

Is it possible that I should continue to go up with the nock point even though bare shafts are diving down?  Don't know if Hill bows shoot unusually high nock points.

Doug, I also shoot 29" 3555's.  For 50# longbows cut as far from center as Hill styles are, I find I need 225-275 grains up front.  With 145grains I think you are stiff and you are getting shelf slap.

1/2" should be plenty high if your shooting split finger.

You also may want to try about 200g point on your arrows. Takes a good bit of weight to bend them carbons around that riser. That's if your drawing all 28", if your drawing less you may want more weight than 200.

Only drawing 27" on this Hill bow for some reason.  I was drawing a full 28" on a Kohannah Kurve.  I also am shooting 3 under.

So it is probably the arrow hitting the riser that I am hearing because the arrow is too stiff right?

I will certainly try more weight up front before I move the nocking point any higher.

 Thanks for the help!

AHHHH finally got to shoot some.

The choices were hard though, but I settled on my JD berry Misty Dawn for today's short round. It's amazing how well you can still shoot even after a 3 week hiatus. Man it was fun

The Misty Dawn is James stringfollow bow and it is a sweet shooter. This one is actually my 3D small game bow.

And doug.
From my 50 @26" (at my 26" draw)  I'm shooting 28 1/4". Beman ICS 500s. (3555) with 175 up front and standard insert and they bareshaft and broadhead tune perfect,  it seems to vary alot from person to person

My Misty Dawn has been my main bow for the past few weeks as it is the bow I settled on for moose hunting.

I'm giving the NM Classic a workout today, and working on my form. My release has been awful!

I have a Dave Johnson in the mail, so now I'll be splitting my time between three Hill style bows!

A few months back Brianlocal3 turned me on to JD Berry bows and I'm really glad he did.  At this point I've had a bunch of bows and my new Morning Star is the most fun I've had so far.  James made the straight grip a tad deeper for my hand and it is amazingly comfortable.  I'm shooting this forward riser more accurately than any bow I've owned.  Mine is nothing fancy but it fits me perfectly.  The fit and finish is superb.  Specs: 68" 55#@31", Brazilian walnut handle with brown glass.  The bow draws to my 31 with ease.  I got a winner!  My thanks to James for being an awesome guy to work with.
