The hardest part of this hunt will be setting a date that we all agree on.

I'm pretty much open to anything, and I beleive Jesus feels the same way.

To start something let's look at the next 12 months to do this. This way, we could plan for a hunt in January, Feb., or even March of 2013.

This would give us lot's of time to plan and do some overtime, if needed.

The guys that are flying in could rent a van and carpool or someone in the Atlanta area could pick them up at the airport. Bows and arrows could be shipped to Jesus house or mine, and we can bring them up with us.

Darren, I was thinking sooner than later when I figured I'd only "probably" be able to make it.  With that much lead time, I should have no problem getting the calendar blocked out.

Ok I have some money put aside and am gonna order me a new hill built just for me.  I am still on the fence as to what to get.  I was thinking of a Big 5 66" String Follow Dished grip with a narrow back Carmelized boo with clear glass and Baduk Riser.  Or same specs except a Red man.  My Draw is about 25.5 so you guys who have had alot of bows which do you think would be the best all around hunting bow that balances performance with forgiveness.

ChrisM,

My opinion, I love string follow bows.  Also, I am a huge fan of Yew in a bow.  I have a Northern Mist Shelton (string follow) with all Yew cores under brown glass.  It is easy on the draw and release.  Also, it is so smooth and quiet.  A string follow redman sounds like an awesome bow to me!!

Good Luck to you.

Hill Hog Hunt

As you can see there is about 10 of us that are interested in going.

After reading everyone's pm's, I'm looking at the following possiable dates for a hunt in 2013.
1/25, 26, 27
2/8, 9, 10
2/15, 16, 17
2/22, 23, 24

With the help from our Georgia Hill brothers, Georgiabowhunter and JohnHV. There looking into the possability of hunting public land.

Another option that we have is hunting on lease land. Tarponnut has leased land in South Ga., he would offers a fairchase, spot and stalk, primitive camping for $325.00 a person for the weekend. We would have to buy a $20.00 license at Walmart on Friday.

Either call me, pm me or email me any thoughts are questions. If you have another idea let me know. I beleive any of the dates above are doable amongst our Hill brothers.

I have a question about the widths of Big Fives compared to Wesley Specials.

My new Big Five has noticeably wider limbs than my two Wesley Specials.

Is that due to having fewer laminations thus needing a bit wider limb, or is it just an anomaly in this one bow? All of my Hills are exactly the same weight, 75 pounds.

I'd be in for that hunt Darren.  I can make any of those dates work.  Ft. Stewart would be a fine place and they have primitive camping!

I would enjoy the Hill hunt, but due to work requirements am only available after mid February each year.

That generally coincides nicely with a three-day weekend for the President's Day holiday. Kilt many a boar over President's day weekend.
