It will be another month or so before the snow melts enough to get into the high country, so for now, my bow and I will have to content ourselves with hunting bear in the foothills. They are starting to green up nicely.
Things are already off to a promising start. A week after picking a likely spot to attract a bear or two, the action has already begun. I checked things yesterday afternoon, and the bait site had been demolished. Logs rolled away and brush scattered. This is a great start.
Ah yes, I almost forgot. This may be a first for the Hill Bow thread, but I would be remiss if I did not share this photo. Those of you who hunt bear will understand why I was excited to find these all around the bait. Yep, there be bears here.
So I packed in more food, added a boatload more scent to the area, and backed out to let them get used to things one more night before I hunt them. Tonight will be the first actual hunt of the year. That big moon last night should have had them out and about and feeding all night. It certainly looked like a hunter's moon to me!
