Thanks, Rossco, a little closer shot of it.

When I saw the pic of your bows I thought right off the bat "hey that looks like my old bow" I guess Joe did the same
thing.
I only had that bow for a few months but I still miss it. Something just doesn't feel right not having a Hill on my rack!

Glad you like it.

The Backset bow will feel like it has a slightly heavier "lump" in the first part of the draw, it then smoothes out quite nicely as you come up to full draw.
The string follow bow will be almost soft in the first several inches of the draw, and will be 2-3# per inch just like the backset bow out at full draw as well.
Neither one will feel, if properly made, any different as you approach full draw.
Your muscles are strongest when they are contracted, not extended, so the extra weight, at the front of the draw, in a backset bow will not be perceived as smooth as the softer front few inches of draw with a string follow.

I have been trying to catch up on our Hill thread and tonight I finally did. During turkey season I didnt even get on the computer except to check emails. Man when turkey season was over the Hill thread had growed over 100 pages! This whole Hill thread has bits of gold and some big nuggets here and there.
I was reading several pages back about shooting with or without a strikeplate. I have been shooting without one for about six months on my Big 5 and it helped my shooting. I just put clear scotch tape on the side where the strikeplate was. It keeps the arrow when drawn quiet and it dont scratch up that part of the riser.

Jesse I bet your Miller Hawk shoots just as good as it looks that riser is stunning. David Miller really puts out some beautiful longbows that perform as good as they look. Ron.

Hey Ron, How is that "long for your draw" Hawk working out? With our shorter draws, 26", was upping the length to 66" any advantage for you?

Jesse I thought the 66" length might make for a little smoother draw with the convex/concave linb design in the Hawk because the limbs are a bit stiffer than the regular Split bamboo he builds but they are both excellent. The Hawk  is faster at the same weight draw by 10 to 12 fps but its just an educated guess on my part. Ron.

Swampthings bow is a Miller. He's always posting photos like that as part of some sort of conspiracy to induce me into spending more money on bows. Lol

Even though the sun was going down in this pic, the classic still had shine.

I'm not one to be spreading any rumors, well, I guess I am too. I was wondering what had happened to my Expedition order, so I called David and asked.
Seems his bamboo order he placed last April (2011) has not yet arrived. He is out of the Moso and Kyoto bamboo which he uses to make the Hawk and Expedition. His supplier says that it is in a cargo container on a ship somewhere in the Pacific. It's a 30 voyage but he doesn't have the date it left port. So, my first week in May delivery has slipped to who knows when. David assures me that mine is at the top of the list when his bamboo "ship comes in".
