not to hurt anyone's feelings, but..

lots of bowyers over the years have spent countless hours redesigning the R/D bows, hybrids and recurves to get maximum performance...and haven't spent 5 minutes trying to figure out what makes a good Hillstyle bow work.  why is that?  :dunno:

I don't know whats up with the counter thing Rob but it has been goofy before as well. Me,I am gonna give it to Nate,If anybody deserves it,it's him.

AND, as a bowyer that has fiddled around with different designs,to include the American Long bow in the Hill style, I totaly agree with your statement Nate, Lots going on with this simple bow.

MT Longbow: Inspired by your example, I took the leather off my riser. I can't tell you the last time I shot a bow without an arrow plate or an arrow rest. Well, I'm leaving it off for awhile... Probably my imagination, but it felt like my arrow left my string-follow Wesley a little quicker and a little cleaner. I also think my groups were a little tighter. I busted two nocks in my session this morning and that doesn't happen often. It happens, but not often!

Tracy, great pics of the riser , now show us the hard work you did on the tips and a close up of the shelf and fade outs, plus maybe one of the back showing the nodes, those are rare to see, the nodes sticking up. The new glass can't handle it.

Beautiful!

Thanks

Thanks and I will get you some better picks and specs/mesurements after work today.

The bow is 68" tip to tip and 50# @ 28, I would have marked it on the bow but I have a shoot this weekend and when I get back I plan on putting 3 more coats of Spar varnish on it.

Tracy, I love that bow!  Do you ever make them for other people?

Rossco, I recently made a trade with Stabow and got a really beautiful Hill Owl TD.  The osage has aged and turned a gorgeous honey color--riser is bacote.  Boyd had it worked over by Craig--shortened, refinished, new tip overlays, and had a silver turkey inlaid in the riser.  She's 64" and draws [email protected] on my scale.  I love that bow.  Seems to shoot just about right for me....BUT she's a touch heavier than I can shoot for extended periods due to years creeping up--no roaring right up--on me.

Soooo, a call to Craig will be bringing me one just like her--a little brother if you please around 45/46# that I can shoot longer at stumps and 3D and other stuff.

Tracy, beautiful bow.  Can you give us the specifics of this bow, like is it straight or string follow, draw weight, widest dim of the limb?  Any details would be great!  Here is my Hill Style collection:

Some are home made, some are actual Hills and a Kramer thown in to throw everyone off!
