Sweet looking bow Danny and you did a good job of bringing it back "up to snuff".

Congratulations!!

Now I know that I need to find one that will fit in with my small collection...lol

I guess it is possible to get bitten more than once.

Hey Tracy!!! Great work on the bows.

Nate... I think that true innovation in Hill bow design has always been about changing the curve of the limb. Even Hill figured to make the bow faster the ends needed to be recurved.

Of course when you change the basic shape of the bow it's not a Hill style anymore. Only very few bowyers (and only very recently) have looked into the internal workings of limb design and material constraints.
After 60 odd years of evolving away from the basic longbow we seem now to be revisiting it's basic style and giving a serious look to improvement.

Often we seem to be our own worst enemies by limiting what can/should be done in relationship to what is "traditional".

Straight ended longbow that follows the string slightly.....
 Whip ended? no.
 Recurved? no.
 Reflexed? no.
 4 strands? no.
Some were. For the sake of experimentation.
The straight end, with a kiss of stringfollow, is, as always,

Well everyone, the bug bit hard awhile ago and by the end of next week I should be a member of the Hill clan. I'll have a Union jack in my possession.  Im looking forward to it.

A couple of days ago I was in a grocery store reading Lindys college football preview. As I was reading it I got a chill but it wasn't exactly cold in there. I think it was a clue that deer season is around the corner. my season starts august 15th. Not to far off.

What's this? Limbs that work even better? 12-inch risers? Oh mannn, this is making too much sense for me to ignore. What's the perfect recipe for a killer bow? Who knows, but the search sure is exciting!

And now. . . for those of you who enjoy seeing a bit of wild country, here's a photo from this weekend's scouting trip. I should stop being surprised that sometimes coming down from the high country, the views are even better than when climbing up.

Kilt a few moose-looking stumps along  the way. Funny how they seem to look more like moose than elk this year. . .

Mike,
Unfortunately my only trophies in the 3 years since the birth of my first child has been some garden stealing rabbits and starlings. When the kids get school age the wife will go back I working weekdays and I'll be freed up for some hunting but the kids sure do love hiking with me.
So for now I'm a paper puncher and I live vicariously thru everyone here.

My woodchuck taper tool is arriving tomorrow, according to the UPS website. I have three dozen hex-pines ready to get started....

With the exception of ferr-L-tite, points, nocks, and fletch, the objective of this exercise is to use paint, finishes, and fletching cement from local sources.

Boy, I hope they fly well....  (I hope my Wesley doesn't eat them all before Christmas!)

My bow doesn't like the taste of arrows - spits them out instead of eating them!    :biglaugh:    :archer2:

I have a dozen hex pines that I have been shooting for three years, along with some other wood shafting.  After the usual prep work, I used Pro Fin. They're still straight and been shot a lot.

Good shooting!
